print session computers not disconnected

I don't find a solution for this. I have a computer with windows xp on a domain network. to that computer i have a shared printer.

After a while, i can not connect to that computer. I have the same user connected to that computer every time when i checked opened sessions. After i typed in command prompt "net session /delete",  it delete all session but after a few second the same users appears with an open session.

I've limited max user from 10 to 8, and the time to end session to 3.

I've found that icp$ share have 10 connection not the printer. what can i do to delete the cached computers from that shares?

Using remote printer with remote drivers?

I wonder if this can be done:

PC1: Win7 64-bit.

PC2: 2003 Server 32-bit with an old USB-printer with drivers that does NOT support 64-bit whatsoever.

I want to print from PC1 to that old printer which is connected to PC2, but the printer-drivers cannot be installed on PC1 due to the lack of 64-bit support, so ordinary printer-sharing cannot be used.

How can I trick PC2 to do the job with it's own drivers?

printer installation problem

We had installed Hp laser jet 1020 printer on Win XP Pro sp3 32bit and shared it. We are able to print from all XP clients but unable to print from windows7 Pro 32bit which we installed by using Add printer - local printer attached to this computer - Create new port - Local port - \\computername\printersharename after that win7 users able to print for sometime but after sometime same thing happens unable to print.

Then we tried to install printer through other ways. For example - 1)Add printer - A network printer or printer attached to another computer - find a printer in the directory   2) Add printer -  A network printer or printer attached to another computer - Connect to this printer (or to browse for a printer....) - selecting that printer.. 3) Using unc path Start - Run - \\computername or ip add - it shows the shared printer then right click and connect.   But failed to install a printer showing error that "Print processor does not exist".

Please provide guidance on this issue.

Installing 64 bit drivers on a 32 bit server

I'm reading articles about adding 64 bit printer drivers to 32 servers.  The all state to use the run command and enter the UNC name to the servers Printers folder via\\servername\Printers.  How come none of my servers show this Printers Share?

XP sp3 32 bit clients, 2008R2 64 bit server, print queue and printing drags

There does seem to be a lot out there with this. Here is another. XPsp3 clients, 2008R2 server

We installed Lexmark C748 32 bit drivers on the 64 bit server and shared it. The print job hits the queue and can sit there for 1-5 mins. The printer never reacts at all. The job goes into the queue immediately when submitted and sits there. It does eventually print. We also noticed that even after printing it lingers in the queue for a long time after the print out is done. First, I thought it was a mismatch with the NIC speed. The Lxk printer does auto negotiate, but on occasion incorrectly. In this case I had to force it to 100/Full. This seem to have some shortening effect with the print, but still not printing the way it should. We switched to the latest Lxk universal print driver. This had no effect. We also tried bypassing the server and loaded drivers directly on the clients (both system and universal) which had no effect. We can ftp a job to the printer and it prints immediately. There are other older Lxk printers on the server that have no issue at all. They print immediately. I am thinking driver, but it seems odd that both drivers on both the server and client would be doing this behavior. BTW the client was super clean when we did this so I am not thinking dueling dll's or something like that. Procmon on Monday. Also, I am going to try one of the older drivers on the new printer. Any other thoughts? Any other have similar?

Unable to locate prnms002.inf

I have installed the Fax Server Role on one of our 2008 R2 servers. I am attempting to add the x86 drivers to the Fax shared printer. As instructed I realize I need the files from a client's %windir%\system32\DriverStore\FileRepository\prnms002.inf_*. Unfortunately, none of my clients have this folder. Where on a Windows XP disk can I extract this directory or can someone provide the necessary files?

Thank you very much for your time.

Print Drivers and Remote Desktop

Can anyone reccomend the best way to manage printer drivers for the following:

Clients running Windows 7 (64 bit) using printers running on a Windows 2008 SP2 (32bit) print server.

Clients are connecting (via remote desktop) to a Windows 2003 Server (32 bit) and the session printers are being created automatically.

-------------

Since introducing the 64 bit desktops (w/64bit drivers) several users are unable (driver error) to print when connecting to applications via remote desktop.

I fear if I install the 64 bit driver on the Windows 2003 (32 bit) Server I could end up in driver hell with all clients connecting having problems.

Is it possible to install the 32 bit driver (same on Windows 2003 and Windows 2008 32bit server) on the 64 bit Windows 7 (64bit) client machine?  This would isolate any problems I could run into on one client machine.

If there is an easier way to manage this I'd love to hear about it.

Server 2012 printer class drivers printer properties feature list

We are currently testing a Win2k12 server for print serving using the class drivers. I've noticed that with the HP class driver, color and staple are listed as available features for test queues even in cases where the print device has neither feature installed. Is there a way to modify this?

Change security settings (add user group) on ALL printers on a print server

Hello,

We have 2 print servers with about 150 printers installed on each.

We have an "operators" group in our domain that we want to be able to manage the print queues (just view/delete jobs really)

When originally setting them up, the person who installed the printers on the servers hadn't added that "operators" group to the server's Print Operators group yet.

Now we have all the printers set up and the only way to give access to that group is to add them in the security tab for each individual printer.

Is there a way to add that group to each printer's security settings all at once?

Thank You!!!

Customize Network Scan Page search?

Client:
Windows 7 SP1

1) Is it possible to customize where the Add Printer Wizard - Network Scan Page searches?  Ideally, I want it to only show published printers from our dept print server and not the entire enterprise.   We are unable to implement Printer Location Tracking.

2) Is it possible to prevent the Find Printers in Directory from automatically returning all results when the "default active directory path when searching for printers" GPO has been configured?  Ideally want the user to type in a partial name of a printer to search for, instead of returning hundreds.

Enforce driver to isolated instead of shared?

Server:

Windows 2008 R2 SP1

Clients:

Windows 7 SP1

Problem:

After reading Windows 7 / Windows Server 2008 R2: Print Driver Isolation blog, I've enabled both GPO settingsExecute Print Drivers in Isolated Processes = Enabled, Override Print Driver Execution Compatibility Setting Reported by Print Driver = Enabled.  ran gpupdate /force.  Print Management shows all the various drivers isolation mode is Shared. How do I force them to Isolatedmode?  Yes, I realize Shared is already a level of isolation, but I'd rather each driver is loaded into its own process space.

printers not printing everything that it's supposed to print

Hi

Issue:-

when printing 70 pages - it's not printing all pages and its only printing 30 pages then stopping. Problem with only one print queue(All users are facing same problem).

someone tried printing 120 pages document, and it only printed 23 pages - so the user had to keep printing 23 many times instead of being able to print just once and it printing the whole document.

Printer shows offline in Print Management - it isn't

A network printer was moved from one location to another recently, and it got a new IP address since it is now in a different subnet.

I confirmed that the IP address in the printer was changed and, on the print server.  But it still shows up in Print Management as "offline", so it is also showing up as offline on the workstations it's deployed to.  The users can print to it.  I can ping it's IP.

Any ideas why it would be showing as offline?

Server 2012 - Unable to Printer from any printer - No Errors

Hello,

I've been reading quite a bit about Server 2012 and the printing advantages it has.  I am currently in the process of upgrading servers and have 2012 licensing so I figured I'd give it a try and see how it goes.  Unfortunately out of 3 printers that I have tested so far not a one of them will print!  The job leaves the queue and acts like it prints but the printer does nothing.  I've tried it from the Server directly and also from a client just to see.  I've tried changing drivers but no luck.  I've tested an HP 4240, Sharp 620i, and Kyocera KM2560 printer all will no luck.  There are no errors on the server I tried rebooting just to be safe, verified updates were all ran, but still nothing.  Anyone have any thoughts on what I can do for this?  Otherwise I'm falling back to 2008 R2.

Thanks in Advance,

Greg

Windows Server 2008 Print Spooler Problems

$

I am running an application server with Windows 2008 r2 X64 as the OS. I am also running a Windows 2003 SP2 print server.  Client computers are a mix of XP, Vista and Windows 7. The client computers connect to the application server via RDP 7.0.  No print drivers are installed directly on the application server, they are redirected from the client.

My printers are mostly HP 4014N and M600. I also have a few older Kyoceras.

The print spooler on the application server will crash several times a day and often fails to automatically restart.  The Admin log in PrintServices Event Viewer is full of EventID 808, 823, with an occasional 354 and 215.

I have deleted all print monitors except the standard Microsoft ones but they reappear after a while. The problem still persist even after they are deleted.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!!!

Tim
