Hi,
I have a number of printers connected to a Windows 2008 R2 Server which acts as a print server in a 40 user Windows environment. I recently made changes to the default printers preferences on these printers which seem to have propagated to user’s workstations as expected (when I look at the printers in “Printers and Devices” I can see they have received the new defaults). Note: The key difference is the default print option has been changed from “Normal Print” to “Hold Print” such that user now need to go to the printer and release whatever print jobs they have sent.
The problem I’m having is in many cases, print preferences are saved on a document by document basis or in the case of Excel workbooks, on a worksheet by worksheet basis. For example a user opens an Excel workbook on the network and prints Sheet1 and Sheet2, for some reason the print preference of “Normal Print” was saved in Sheet1 sometime in the past so that particular sheet just come out at the printer without any interaction from the user whereas Sheet2 doesn’t have and print preferences saved within the sheet so when that sheet is printed it takes its print preferences from the system defined preferences and is held as the printer as expected.
Is there any way I can override preferences that might have been saved in documents so ALL documents printed are Held at the printer.
Note: In this particular instance users are printing to a Ricoh MPC 300 with PCL6 Drivers installed
Thanks in advance
Paul
