We just installed a new print server on Windows Server 2008 R2 (using the Print Services role).
We installed the printers fine on the server, and can print to the printers from the server no problems. However, when we try to connect to the printers from the client (using the Add Printer wizard > add a network printer > choose from directory listing), it fails to install with the following error, which is less than useful:
"Connect to Printer: Windows couldn't connect to the printer. Check the printer name and try again. If this is a network printer, make sure that the printer is turned on, and that the printer address is correct."
There doesn't appear to be anything in the error logs relating to this.
I have verified that all the settings on the printers are the same as the last print server, and I have disabled the Firewall on the new server just in case that was the problem. I have also removed and reinstalled the role multiple times. If I try to install the printer directly on the client using the IP address, it works, but that totally defeats the purpose of having a print server. There is currently no antivirus installed to be interfering.
Our clients are all Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit, and the server is Windows 2008 R2 x64.
Any help would be appreciated?
