I looked at the previous incarnations of this issue but the solutions do not work for me.
I am running on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard, version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601.
When I send a file to a printer using LPR, the file prints and I can see the .SPL and .SHD files being created and deleted in the \spool\PRINTERS directory.
I am seeing a PrintService event 812 for every print job which indicates that "The print spooler failed to delete the file C:\System\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS\x.SHD." As I stated above, the file is being deleted.
I tried changing the permissions on the PRINTERS directory for CreatorOwner and restarting PrintSpooler the but that does not eliminate the error. The PrintSpooler service seems to be running as the user "Local System."
It does not matter whether I initialte the LPR from a command prompt on the server or from another desktop within the same domain.
If I open a notepad document on the server and select File/Print I DO NOT see this event.
If I open a notepad document on a desktop machine in the same domain and select File/Print I do not see the event but the files habg out in the PRINTERS directory until something else prints.
