I didn't spend a whole lot of time digging for it just now, but I know there's docs and white papers giving reasons to NOT install software packages on print servers, only drivers. It's a good practice that has served well.
I just ran into an interesting issue where this one printer is deployed to an entire company, well all 6 printers are, as it's pushed out in the default domain policy. Interestingly too it's pushed out from the print mgmt console for both machine and user, and again through GPP.
It seems to work for them, with the exception of one printer. Without getting into all the details about the GPO I just found on this workstation the entire printer software package, and it kind of threw me. The printer is an MFP and the software likely has reason for being there. But since this is the *only* printer with an issue, and only on this workstation, could the fact that the entire package is installed be the culprit? Thoughts?
